Frequently asked questions.

What is a postpartum doula?

A postpartum doula provides emotional, physical, and educational support to families after the birth of a baby. We help ease the transition into parenthood by supporting recovery, assisting with newborn care, and offering guidance and resources.

What services do you provide as a postpartum doula?

I provide hands-on newborn care support, feeding guidance (breastfeeding, bottle feeding, pumping), emotional support for parents, light household help, and education on infant soothing, sleep basics, and postpartum recovery. I also offer overnight support so you can get restorative rest.

How is a postpartum doula different from a nanny or babysitter?

Unlike a nanny, a postpartum doula is trained to support the entire family — not just care for the baby. My role is to nurture the parents, help build confidence in newborn care, and provide guidance and resources for your unique postpartum journey.

Why would clients choose evening support?

Evening support bridges the gap between daytime and overnight care. It provides targeted help during the most demanding hours—reducing stress, easing the mental load, and helping your family move into the night feeling supported, organized, and at ease.

Why would clients choose weekend support?

Weekend support offers flexibility without the commitment of longer shifts. It allows you to fill in the gaps, get meaningful rest, and feel more supported during a time that can be both full and unpredictable. Available in 4-hour shifts between 4am–10pm, based on your family’s needs.

Do you provide overnight support?

I provide overnight support on a case by case basis, and only 1-2 overnights maximum per week from the hours of 9pm-5am.

How long do families typically hire a postpartum doula for?

It varies depending on each family’s needs. Some families hire me for just a few sessions to get established with newborn care and feeding, while others prefer ongoing support for several weeks or months. I tailor my support to fit your unique needs during the newborn period.

Do you help with breastfeeding or bottle feeding?

Absolutely! I provide lactation support, guidance on breastfeeding positions, pumping, and bottle feeding. If more specialized help is needed, I can refer you to trusted IBCLCs (International Board Certified Lactation Consultants).

Do you support all types of families and feeding choices?

Yes! I provide non-judgmental support to all families, no matter their family structure, feeding choices, or parenting style. My goal is to support you in the ways that feel right for your family.

When should I book postpartum doula support?

I recommend booking during pregnancy to ensure availability, especially for overnight care. However, if you've already had your baby, reach out — I’ll do my best to accommodate your needs.

What areas do you serve?

I serve families in the greater Seattle and Tacoma areas and everything in between. If you're nearby but unsure if I cover your area, feel free to ask!
